the list of 9 for april 5, 2007:
NINE MEMBERS OF "THE 27 CLUB"

After hearing about her son Kurt Cobain's suicide in 1994, Wendy Fradenburg Cobain O'Connorreportedly muttered, "Now he's gone and joined that stupid club." She was referring to "The 27Club," those famous pop stars from the 60's who all died at 27. In honor of Cobain's death - 13years ago today - I thought I'd list nine people who qualify - even if some are a stretch. (Forconsistency's sake, I'm only listing pop musicians; otherwise, the list would surely includepainter Jean-Michel Basquiat, actor Jonathan Brandis and football player-cum-soldier-cum-victimof "friendly fire" Pat Tillman.)

  6. Robert Johnson, 1911-1938. The original member of The 27Club, legendary blues guitarist Johnson died from pneumonia after reportedly being weakened bypoisoned whiskey.

  7. Kristen Pfaff, 1967-1994. Bassist for Courtney Love's band Hole died of an accidental overdose two months after her friend Kurt Cobain kicked the bucket.
